Here is my modification for the hand drill spindle.

Spindle Body - The spindle body can be one long piece or in sections for portability.

Spindle Insert - The spindle insert can be made from cottonwood, pine, willow or any soft wood that can produce ember.

Thumb Loop - The optional thumb loop and insert helps in creating an ember.
